CFA Firestar Rose
The CFA has launched it's first commemorative rose, Firestar, in a series of roses aimed to raise much needed funds for the CFA. After the tragedy of Black Saturday we are all aware, now more than ever, of how much we need the CFA and how much they need our help and support to replace equipment and help implement training and support programs for volunteers.
The idea of Firestar Rose is to bring a little joy to everyone who has suffered. It will allow us to reflect on what it is to have mates, and to share the burdens of tough times. No doubt the Firestar Rose will become a lasting reminder of the suffering and bravery that occurred.
Firestar was chosen as it is a symbol used in some form by most Volunteer Fire Brigades in Australia. The points are said to represent the Knightly virtues of tact, loyalty, dexterity, observation, sympathy, gallantry, perseverance and explicitness...all the virtues needed to be firefighter.
